Description
Treat yourself to a weekend of ART! Marvelous Mosaic offers a one-of-a-kind glass art experience. In this glass jellyfish retreat, you will learn the art of creating beautiful and intricate hanging glass jellyfish using vitrigraph and murrine.
The vitrigraph technique involves melting glass in a kiln and drawing out the molten glass through a small hole in the bottom of the kiln. This creates a long piece of glass that can be shaped and manipulated into different designs. We will pull 3 pots of vitrigraph, demo pulling, and students will have the opportunity to pull. Kory will teach you her inventive ways of creating jellyfish tentacles.
The murrine technique involves creating designs in glass by layering different colors of glass in the vitrigraph pots and pulling cane. The cane is then cut to create circular pieces of glass, which are called murrine. These murrine pieces can then be arranged and fused together. We will use this process to design your own small jellyfish body using murrine, frit, and other glass.
Using these techniques, you will create unique and beautiful hanging glass jellyfish. You will begin by creating the tentacles of the jellyfish using the vitrigraph technique, manipulating the molten glass to create the desired shape and texture. Then, you will use the murrine technique to create the body of the jellyfish, layering and slicing different colors of glass to create a stunning pattern.
Throughout the class, you will receive guidance and instruction from an experienced glass artist who will help you bring your vision to life. By the end of the class, you will have created a one-of-a-kind glass jellyfish sculpture that you can display in your home or give as a beautiful and unique gift.
