I will be giving a mini presentation at the Contempoary Mosaic Art2 International Confrence the topic is, Large Scale Glass on Glass Mosaic mini presentation.
The master cutting class is full! Take your cutting to the next level. Learn the physics of glass and how glass breaks with Kory Dollar of Marvelous Mosaic.
Kory will break down how and why the glass breaks. You will walk away with the confidence of an expert and become efficient with your tools. You will learn advanced techniques for cutting, including how to cut 15 signature cuts to create intricate designs. Also, you learn to be proficient with all necessary glass tools, including strip cutter, and circle cutter. By the end of the class students will be able to cut glass with precision and accuracy.
Breakdown of Course
- 1.5 hour lecture and instruction – during this time there will be an in depth cutting lesson, about the physics of glass. Kory will demonstrate all cuts and students will have the opportunity to ask questions in a group setting. Tools and glass will be available after the lesson for students to master cuts.
- 2 hours hands on cutting – mastering all cuts, at this time we will have 2 extra assistants and Kory to troubleshoot and actively demonstrate the cuts, each of you will receive one-on-one time with the instructor and assistants to effectively master cutting style.
- 1 hour lecture and group discussion – focusing on how to use the cuts to create movement. Kory will outline specific rules associated with each cut and teach how to adequately place the glass to create dramatic andamento. You will be immersed into discussion.
- 2.5 hour application – Students will have the opportunity to use their cuts from hands-on cutting lessons and apply them to individual project 12” x 12” dollar-wise frames. This is a gallery ready glass on glass frame.

Material Fee: $65 – to be collected by the instructor at the workshop. The supply fee will cover the cost of your dollar-wise frame, glue used at the class and 1.5 lbs of glass.
Materials provided by the instructor: 2+ sq feet of stained glass to cut and keep one 12 x 12 inch substrate for practice, 2 oz glue.
Student must bring: Nothing but safety glasses recommended
