This will be my second annual Santa Rosa Mosaic Workshop. It is a fantastic location. The host Kathy is wonderful; her home is transformed to a mosaic studio! There is a lot of room, including outdoor space. The place is perfect for a weekend get away! We provide 3 lunches and all supplies and materials. Students are welcome to bring healthy snacks to share. There is a hot tub and a pool! We did use the hot tub last year, so if you are staying late bring your swim suite!

NOTE – if you are a local student and want to host someone, please let myself or Kathy know and we can connect you with someone!

** Disclaimer** We do work late, we do have a lot of fun, plan on a late night Friday and Saturday, if you want to finish. This is not a craft project, we are working hard, cutting glass, and creating EPIC art.

You will learn a process that creates quality stained glass mosaics that will last a lifetime. I will be bringing hand crafted 12″ x 15″ custom framed windows. This is a big substrate to finish in 3 days!

Last year, we all had dinner at Kathy’s. We chipped in on food, wine, beer, and went to the store and had some awesome barbecued meals!

The Beachfront property will be a great inspirational setting to our mosaic workshop. There is a spectacular choice of fine dining, shopping, gambling, and cultural activities in the area, if you want to make a vacation of it. Bonnie will arrange a optional dinner on Saturday night at a local restaurant and we can get to know some of the new faces and get acquainted with some new students.
I will be teaching my glass on glass technique or GOG and we will be working cohesively to create a wave full of movement and texture. Our focus will be on color theory, long-curvy-skinny cuts, blending glass, and directional flow. Students will learn my Three Step Fabrication Method® to simplify the steps in creating a Glass on Glass (GOG) mosaic. We will discuss my strip cutting approach to breaking down the glass. This is a wonderful opportunity to understand how to organize your mosaic from start to finish.
It will be my goal that you will walk away understanding the entire GOG process from start to finish. I will encourage imperfections and in order to make the process feel less judging. It is my goal by the end of the class that you understand, “the art of art is the imperfections.” I plan on simplifying the process enough to give you “artistic freedom without self doubt” and the courage to create. I strive to build confidence in these classes. I do not teach from a pattern, I teach to use your sketch as only a guideline; you are not restricted to the pattern.
