SilkeMat Mask-Making Retreat with Barbara Cushman Hosted at Marvelous Mosaic Fine Art Retreat Center
Join renowned artist Barbara Cushman of SilkeMat for a creative, hands-on retreat focused on kiln-forming techniques using SilkeMat. Over this immersive workshop, you will:
Create two custom glass masks using SilkeMat.
Explore creative decoration techniques, adding texture, color, and unique details.
Access Kory’s vitrigraph pulls to incorporate exclusive, hand-pulled elements into your masks.
Learn tips and techniques directly from the inventor of SilkeMat, ensuring professional, reliable results.
This retreat is perfect for glass artists of all skill levels. Whether you’re new to kiln forming or looking to expand your creative possibilities, Barbara’s expert instruction will guide you through every step.
The Marvelous Mosaic Fine Art Retreat Center offers an inspiring setting where you can learn, create, and connect with fellow artists. By the end of the weekend, you’ll leave with two finished masks — and the knowledge to continue experimenting with SilkeMat at home.
Schedule:
📍 Friday – Check-in at 10 am (breakfast if arriving Thursday night)
📍 Saturday – 9 am–5 pm instruction, studio open until 10 pm
📍 Sunday – 10 am–1 pm

🍽 Meals & Studio Access
Studio open until 10 PM (instruction ends at 5 PM) please respect this rule and only work with individual lights and quite voices after 10 pm
$100 meal/venue fee includes:
2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners
Snacks & refreshments all weekend
Shared meals foster community (no restaurants nearby)
Bonus: Thursday night stay includes Friday breakfast
Potluck Thursday, if you are joining – bring something to share

Cancel >45 days: transfer available if spot fills
Cancel <15 days: credit forfeited
One reschedules allowed within 6 months
