Register NOW for Fort Worth, Texas Stained Glass on Glass Mosaic Workshop with Kory Dollar of Marvelous Mosaic Fine Art in March 2019. The class will focus on understanding how glass breaks, we will create a 12″ x 15″ landscape mosaic. Kory will specifically address the long and skinny cuts that are in Angela’s sunset and the evergreen tree. Kory will discuss directional flow in depth and the students will walk away with a understanding of how the ever changing light effects glass on glass mosaics. You will learn Kory’s Opacity Rules specifically developed for glass on glass mosaics.

Students will learn Kory’s NEWLY designed Three Step Fabrication Method® to simplify the steps in creating a a landscape mosaic on glass The class will discuss her strip cutting approach to breaking down the glass to patternize you design. This is a wonderful opportunity to understand how to organize your mosaic from start to finish.

The 3 day workshop will be a combination of lecture/slideshow, discussion, Q&A, demos, and hands-on instruction. We will focus on Glass on Glass (GOG) application, using the direct method to create a stimulating optical effect.  Students will learn Kory’s Three Step Fabrication Method® to effectively and efficiently construct a stained glass mosaic to last a lifetime.  Kory will demo several unique cuts she uses in her gardens, using three tools, nippers, a scoring tool, and running pliers. During this process, you will learn how cut strips to patternize your glass into specific cuts. Kory will demonstrate and discuss a specific nipping style /technique, Glass Shaving® to create a crisp clean edge, using only wheeled nippers. The class will explore how to create movement, using Kory’s signature cut, One-cut Sliver Cut®. Additional topics covered include: committing to a design, selecting a color pallet, varying opacity, Randomization Method®, balance and composition, creating a one-of-a-kind designs, and incorporating found and unusual items. Kory will discuss grout bleed, adhesives, grout additives, and provide tips and tricks to grouting. Mac glue will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring additional unique items such as broken jewelry, beads, and tesserae to embellish your mosaic.

Students are welcome to grout if they have completed the project and glue has dried. If projects are not completed by 11 on Sunday and you are unable to grout, a grout package will be available to take home for optional grouting.

Kory notes that she does not strive for perfection; “the art of art is the imperfections.” She says, “It is my goal that I will simplify the process enough to give you ‘artistic freedom without self doubt’. I strive to build confidence in these classes. I do not teach from a pattern, I teach to use your sketch as only a guideline; you are not restricted to the pattern. I will assist you in creating a balanced one-of-a-kind composition, using my uniquely designed simplified steps. We will focus on several unique cuts and I will provide you with tips and tricks that I use daily.”

This class is limited to a 12 Mac Glue will be sponsoring the class and hosting the location.   I have my ticket bought and I am looking forward to seeing some new faces, as well as working with several returning students!

50% deposits will be required to reserve your spot.
Note: If for any reason the class is canceled due to max number of students (10) not reached, or unforeseen reason 100% of the deposits/all payments will be refunded.
If for any reason you need to cancel your reservation, you must do so 45 days prior to the event to get a refund, If you cancel 45 days prior to the event we will process your refund, with a $25 administration fee. After the 45 day deadline, we must fill the spot for you to get a refund, with a $50 administration fee. If you cancel 15 days prior for any reason you will forfeit $100 of your deposit and the remainder balance will only be refunded in the event your spot is filled. All final payments must be received 30 days prior to the event.

Kory has spent decades using trial and error to find the highest quality products available. The process she uses is similar to laying tile. After she hand cuts all the stained glass, the glass is glued on the glass and then grouted like a shower. The adhesive is UV stable and will not break down, yellow, or crack over time. The grouting method developed provides the grout flexibility, durability, and longevity, making the mosaic something you can pass down from generation to generation.  When you commission a mosaic from Marvelous Mosaic you are buying a lifetime piece of fine art.

She incorporates treasures, gems, jewels, precious stones, and other recycled items like jewelry, gears, beads, and  any unique treasure she can scavenge.
