Maximum 4 students – You will get a lot of one-on-one attention. This class is great for advanced students wanting to move on to the next level. We will discuss large scale projects, large scale cuts and I will provide tips and tricks when you start creating these large projects over 9 sq feet. Each student will have a piece of 36″ x 16″ 1/4 inch tempered glass.

You will have full access to all my supplies in the studio to create your one-of-a-kind design. We will discuss the entire process of large scale designs,  including design proposals, design process, types of glass, where to order the glass, types of glues, the challenges of using large pieces, how to proficiently cut the glass with confidence, glass selection process, we will discuss precision cutting, using my favorite 3 hand tools. I will review different types of glass and give you tips on how to effectively cut the glass. This class will move you to the next level. This workshop is for previous students who have taken at least one three day workshop.

Lodging available at Deer Island Manor just 10 min away. Additional cost is $79 / night for king private room (2 rooms available) or, 4 bottom bunk’s available $50 / night
Lodging includes light breakfast and coffee or tea. Lunches will be provided by Kory, meals usually are choices of Day 1 Chef Salad or build your own sandwich. Day 2 Pot of Sou, house salad, bread. Day 3 Veggie Quiche/Frittata and/or Bacon and Cheese Quiche/Frittat. Students are encouraged to bring healthy snacks or treats to share. Please bring a water bottle and coffee mug with you. Coffee, tea and spring water and lemon will be provided at the studio. Dinners are optional, we will reserve a table at a local restaurant on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening, if students request.

Projects can be mailed for an additional cost or picked up 2 – 4 weeks after class.

Register NOW for Fort Worth, Texas Stained Glass on Glass Mosaic Workshop with Kory Dollar of Marvelous Mosaic Fine Art in March 2019. The class will focus on understanding how glass breaks, we will create a 12″ x 15″ landscape mosaic. Kory will specifically address the long and skinny cuts that are in Angela’s sunset and the evergreen tree. Kory will discuss directional flow in depth and the students will walk away with a understanding of how the ever changing light effects glass on glass mosaics. You will learn Kory’s Opacity Rules specifically developed for glass on glass mosaics.

Students will learn Kory’s NEWLY designed Three Step Fabrication Method® to simplify the steps in creating a a landscape mosaic on glass The class will discuss her strip cutting approach to breaking down the glass to patternize you design. This is a wonderful opportunity to understand how to organize your mosaic from start to finish.

The 3 day workshop will be a combination of lecture/slideshow, discussion, Q&A, demos, and hands-on instruction. We will focus on Glass on Glass (GOG) application, using the direct method to create a stimulating optical effect.  Students will learn Kory’s Three Step Fabrication Method® to effectively and efficiently construct a stained glass mosaic to last a lifetime.  Kory will demo several unique cuts she uses in her gardens, using three tools, nippers, a scoring tool, and running pliers. During this process, you will learn how cut strips to patternize your glass into specific cuts. Kory will demonstrate and discuss a specific nipping style /technique, Glass Shaving® to create a crisp clean edge, using only wheeled nippers. The class will explore how to create movement, using Kory’s signature cut, One-cut Sliver Cut®. Additional topics covered include: committing to a design, selecting a color pallet, varying opacity, Randomization Method®, balance and composition, creating a one-of-a-kind designs, and incorporating found and unusual items. Kory will discuss grout bleed, adhesives, grout additives, and provide tips and tricks to grouting. Mac glue will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring additional unique items such as broken jewelry, beads, and tesserae to embellish your mosaic.

Students are welcome to grout if they have completed the project and glue has dried. If projects are not completed by 11 on Sunday and you are unable to grout, a grout package will be available to take home for optional grouting.

Kory notes that she does not strive for perfection; “the art of art is the imperfections.” She says, “It is my goal that I will simplify the process enough to give you ‘artistic freedom without self doubt’. I strive to build confidence in these classes. I do not teach from a pattern, I teach to use your sketch as only a guideline; you are not restricted to the pattern. I will assist you in creating a balanced one-of-a-kind composition, using my uniquely designed simplified steps. We will focus on several unique cuts and I will provide you with tips and tricks that I use daily.”

I have some exciting news! I will be coming back to Tahoe! I will be teaching a stained glass mosaic class right on Lake Tahoe! The venue is located on the North Shore is an exceptional facility that includes a dramatic view of the sandy beaches, majestic mountains, and a crystal clear lake. The Beachfront view will be a great inspirational setting to our mosaic workshop. There is a spectacular choice of fine dining, shopping, gambling, and cultural activities in the area, if you want to make a vacation of it. Bonnie will arrange a optional dinner on Saturday night at a local restaurant and we can get to know some of the new faces and get acquainted with some new students.
I will be teaching my glass on glass technique or GOG and we will be working cohesively to create a wave full of movement and texture. Our focus will be on color theory, long-curvy-skinny cuts, blending glass, and directional flow. Students will learn my Three Step Fabrication Method® to simplify the steps in creating a Glass on Glass (GOG) mosaic. We will discuss my strip cutting approach to breaking down the glass. This is a wonderful opportunity to understand how to organize your mosaic from start to finish.
It will be my goal that you will walk away understanding the entire GOG process from start to finish. I will encourage imperfections and in order to make the process feel less judging. It is my goal by the end of the class that you understand, “the art of art is the imperfections.” I plan on simplifying the process enough to give you “artistic freedom without self doubt” and the courage to create. I strive to build confidence in these classes. I do not teach from a pattern, I teach to use your sketch as only a guideline; you are not restricted to the pattern. The class will explore how to create movement, using Kory’s signature cut, One-cut Sliver Cut®.
